In these uncertain economic times we appreciate and understand that finding some 'spare' money to support us could be a challenge. No matter how much one wants to back a cause the reality of day-to-day claims on our cash is an ever present pressure that we all face!
As a result, we are keen to assist all our supporters in finding a way of giving that makes it easier to afford whilst providing the maximum benefit for St George's. Whether the amount in question is the widow's mite or a much larger sum, we have designed a way to support all levels of giving.
This consists of PLEDGED GIVING utilising the benefits of GIFT AID.
PLEDGED GIVING:
Under this scheme, our supporters can spread their donations to St George's over a period of time, up to 4 years in total.
By giving a small amount on a monthly basis, over a number of years, the benefit to St George's can become significant.
As an example, a standing order for £20 per month for 4 years would provide St George's with a total direct gift of £960 by the end of year 4!
GIFT AID:
Gift Aid is a government incentive to encourage everyone to donate to their chosen charity. Under this scheme, if you are a UK taxpayer, the government will donate 25p for every £1 donated to a recognised charity!
This costs the donor nothing and increases the benefit of your donation to St George's by 25% - for free!!
In the example above, the monthly £20 gift adds up to £960 over 4 years. If you donate using Gift Aid, though, the benefit St George's receives is actually £1,200. As a result, you have donated £1,200 to us for only £960 cost to you!
Indeed, if you are a Higher Rate Taxpayer, then the cost to you is even less! The standard position for a 50% taxpayer is that a £960 net donation is worth £1,200 to St George's as above. The gross value of the gift is therefore £1,200 and the donor on a 50% tax rate is able to claim tax relief on the total donation. This is thus an extra 30% personal relief of £360. So the net cost to donor is £960 - £360 = £600. So a gift that effectively costs the donor £600 is worth £1,200 to St George's - i.e. the value to St George's is double what it costs the donor!! Truly a miracle!

RECOGNITION:
We are keen to show our thanks and recognition to all who are able to support our Campaign, no matter how small or large that support is.
As a result, we have designed a number of ways to record your support for future congregations and those who will visit St George's in the years to come. These are focused designed around whether you wish your support to be directed towards the Faithful Restoration or the new Organ. All donations will be recorded in a Book of Gifts, but there are also opportunities for those who can donate more or who wish to specify exactly how we invest their donation- be it by buying an organ pipe or restoring the clock!
